Hayden, originally from Arkansas, relocated to California in 1972 and began his career in the HVAC/R industry, working with companies such as University Service Co. and Jackson & Blanc Co., where he was responsible for the essential systems supporting both residential and commercial properties. His career evolved into the biopharmaceutical sector, where he managed sophisticated mechanical and electrical systems in large-scale facilities.
Hayden’s extensive background in facilities and operations management includes leadership roles at premier San Diego firms such as IDEC Pharmaceuticals and Genentech Pharmaceuticals. Starting at IDEC in 1995 as a Senior Lead Maintenance Mechanic, he played a key role through three corporate mergers, advancing into leadership positions including Maintenance Supervisor and Maintenance Manager. He ultimately served as Associate Director of Maintenance at Genentech, where he was responsible for Process Maintenance, Utility Maintenance, Calibration, and Facilities operations. His deep technical expertise, strategic leadership, and operational oversight led to consistent infrastructure improvements across high-performing biopharmaceutical environments.
Building on this foundation, Hayden successfully transitioned into commercial real estate investment. After achieving outstanding results through a Grant Cardone real estate mentorship program, he established key partnerships and began building a diversified multifamily portfolio. Within a year, he became a limited partner in six real estate deals, collectively encompassing 1,704 multifamily units and 113 RV pads. Through this experience, he developed strong capabilities in underwriting deals, engaging with brokers, and submitting Letters of Intent (LOIs).
